Dear All,

HOLI - The Festival of colors is round the corner. We at Aashayein
Foundation want to make this HOLI a special one for the kids. Yes you
read it right, this weekend we are going to celebrate HOLI with the
children at APSA, just after the Sunday Breakfast serving.

Also, please read and volunteer for our 2 very important activities
lined up at Aashayein Foundation for the coming days. We look forward
for your support in reaching out and making a difference to the kids
through these initiatives.

Announcements for this week:

"Gift your village" – A new initiative
Survey for the kids who are not going to school beginning 6th March, 2010
Breakfast Serving in East Zone on Sunday, 28th Feb, 2010

Please note this week there will be no teaching activity at any of the
schools this weekend, as the schools are closed on Saturday, 27th Feb,
2010 because of Govt. Holiday.

Let us all celebrate this HOLI with the kids and get a glimpse of how
colorful this world can be. See you all this weekend!

Gift your village – A new initiative:

Aashayein Foundation adds another feather to its cap with its new
program called "Gift Your Village" to address the infrastructural and
the basic needs of schools across the rural parts of Karnataka.

So what should you do??? You are the best person to assess the schools
in your village. If you think the school deserves more than what they
already have, or if you think you cannot help the school
single-handedly and you want to make a difference to the lives of the
young kids, and then reach out to us. This would be the best gift that
you could possibly give to your village.

Please fill up the attached form and send it across to
info@aashayeinfoundation.org or call Somaiah at 9900579228.

Survey for identifying kids who are not going to school:

Today in Bangalore alone, there are about 8000 kids who are either
working in some mechanic shop or serving food to you at a hotel or
washing dishes at home. And each year many more are sent here from
villages in the dream of earning more money in cities. Many of these
kids don't even have an opportunity to know what Education can offer
them and neither do their parents know the benefits of the Education.
If nothing is done about this, these kids will lose their creativity
and continue to live with unfulfilled dreams. The kids will then grow
up blaming their circumstances for their condition.

At the same time, we have the privilege and opportunity to make a
difference to these kids and their family. With speaking to them,
supporting them and encouraging them to go to school. We believe it's
possible and starting from Saturday, 6th March, 2010 we are planning
to do a survey of the kids who are not going to school in Shivajinagar
and Jayanagar area. If you want to grab this opportunity to make a
difference to these kids, please come forward and send a mail to
info@aashayeinfoundation.org or call Sunil at 9902107107. Let's get
the kids to School and give them their dream!

Shikshana Abhiyana (SA):

Feb, 2010 because of Govt. Holiday.

Dear All,

Use your Right Thumb and close your right nostril. Next take deep breaths. Hold your breath. Now exhale from the left nostril. Repeat the same but this time start with your left nostril. Yes it was Yoga and Pranayam classes. This is how we started our Last Sunday’s Breakfast Serving. We had Dr. Venugopal HJ, a Yoga Trainer and Ayurvedic Therapist who joined us in last week’s Breakfast Serving. It was refreshing to spend the morning by knowing how to stay healthy and fit.

With the same spirit, we wish to announce 2 very important activities lined up at Aashayein Foundation for the coming days. Please read the below mail for more details:

  • “Gift your village” – A new initiative
  • Survey for the kids who are not going to school beginning 6th March, 2010
  • Teaching at 6 schools on Saturday, 20th Feb, 2010
  • Breakfast Serving in South Zone on Sunday, 21st Feb, 2010

We leave you with some of the pictures of last weeks yoga classes at the Breakfast Serving. See you all this weekend!
