Report of the first Breakfast serving at Mysore on Sunday 31st Jan, 2010: Any other Sunday for the 30 odds kids at the Chayadevi Anathashrama, Mysore would have meant a routine breakfast and the usual loneliness that followed. But, Sunday, 31st of January 2010 was destined to be special. Over 50 volunteers of Aashayein Foundation came together to make a difference to the lives of 60 odd residents of the Chayadevi Anathashrama. The residents comprised of children, women and senior citizens. There were games like “Chuku Buku Railu”, “Boom Boom Ballons”, performance by kids on famous rhyme “Once I had an Aunty.. Aunty Monica”, “Dinka Taka. Dinka Taka. Dinn..” followed by distribution of Goodies to all and many more activities were organized as part the first Breakfast Activity in Mysore. More details at this blog. The joy was evident on the faces of the kids and volunteers. Few photos of the event at following link and here. Shikshana Abhiyana (SA): As the saying goes "You give man a fish, you feed him for a day, you teach him fishing you feed him for life". SA is an attempt to bridge the gap in the quality of education between Government/Government aided schools and the Private schools through training the kids in Basic Communication Skills and interactive workshops. At Aashayein Foundation, each week we train the kids for 1 to 2 hours in 7 schools across Bangalore. Please join us for the teaching in the school closest to your area.
